PSN Store Hong Kong forcing users to pay for themes

After the update this week, users of the Hong Kong PSN Store have found one thing unusual. Before, all themes were free. However, the Dark Mist theme, an upcoming game for the PS3 released a theme costing $7.00 HK, just about 50p or $1.

I for one, cannot see the idea of paying for themes to take off as we can download user created themes for free off the web. However, Xbox-360 owners are used to the idea of paying for dashboards, costing $1 or $2. It is not much but still money out of your pocket.

Sony releases the New PSN Store look!

You have probally heard about the PSN Store getting a redesign in April as gamers said it was hard to navigate.  We agreed and were extremly happy when Sony told us we would be getting a redesigned store in April!  SCEE has been very kind to us and released a photo of the new store.  However, due to the store redesign the store will not be updated for 2 whole weeks!  SCEE has promised the biggest update in PSN store history after the update in Mid-April though so we will not complain.  Here it is…

Call of Duty 4 Map Pack Release

Robert Bowling of Infinity Ward has confirmed that the PS3 variety pack will be coming to the store in april. However,  owners of the PS3 version will be disappointed as the DLC on will be available to us April 24.  That’s three full weeks after the Xbox 360 version’s Map Pack goes up. It is also going to cost us aroung GBP 4.99 after the US version will be going up at $9.99. Ow well, at least we can enjoy the greatness of Wet Work for longer.

WWE Smackdown vs RAW 2009 announced!

Last year’s game was terrible and I for one brought it and have only played it a couple of times but let’s hope next year’s installment can be better!  It has been announced and Online support and DLC has been revealed to be added to the next game.  The develper has said the WWE roster could be updated via the PSN store.  The season mode will also be updated with co-op being added for some tag team fun.  A brand new “Create a Finisher” is being added with over 500 moves to be chosen from!  So far, only  Chris Jericho, Jeff Hardy, Matt Hardy, Randy Orton, Mr. Kennedy, Undertaker, and John Cena have been announced to be playable but I expect a lot more to be added soon!

PSN Store Finally Updated!

That’s right the EU store has been updated a day late.  This comes after news that we thought there would be no update this week as the store wasn’t update on the usual day yesterday, Thursday.  The update is quite good but nothing spectacular.  Here’s what we got:

  • Unreal Tournament 3 Maps (Free)
  • Euro 2008 Demo (Free)
  • Turok Maps (GBP 1.99)
  • GtT5: Prologue (GBP 24.99 we reccomend that you buy the Blu-Ray disc as it is cheaper, has more content and you can trade it in when GT5 comes out!)
  • Eye of Judgement “Bio Rebellion” Card Set (GBP 6.99)
  • Reel Fishing PSOne Game (GBP 3.49)
  • Various Trailers
