Dark Sector Review
I’d like to begin my review on Dark Sector with first of all saying, If you want a game with a good solid story, and a good ending, this is NOT the game for you, if you want a game thats pure action and mindless decapitating room after room, this however IS the game for you. The ending lasts about 20 seconds and explains nothing. the last boss can be hard for some but can be killed in 3 minutes with good accuracy. Now the ugly part is out the way let me just get to how much I liked the game for the following reasons.
The game’s graphics and gameplay is very fun, new in one sense but it does borrow allot of its aspects from 2 other hot titles, yep thats right… Gears Of War & Resident Evil 4. The first for its gritty graphics and the colors, grains all feel the same! the sprint camera angle is identical to GOW and the aiming is exactly the same its like playing GOW on the PS3 with the Resident Evil 4’s weapon upgrade function… the black market isn’t very fun whatsoever really you need ALOT of Rubles to buy the good gear and you need to use it on weapons early on leaving you short and end up having to sell Frag Grenades 450 Rubles each and Weapon Upgrade briefcases for 2500 Rubles each to just say skim what’s required to get the nessacery equipment, I recommend you make do with the first handgun until the hammer (revolver 6 shooter, amazing weapon) and then get the 40,000 rubles assault rifle when available , sell your old handgun if need be this is a ideal weapon for the last boss, Not g! oing to give anything away but spray fire works very well
Anyhow getting back to how the game plays! The game runs smooth as anything, very nicely done and it works well, the shield, the invisibility function all work well and are well designated on the joypad to pull off fast and furious rolling and picking enemies off on the brink of death! for example standing there, shooting away, then go invisible run up and finish a enemy then when you might have bout 5 guys shooting at you, can easily just put up your shield, run for cover, or use it behind a wall and having somewhat a bit of cover and then rebounding the bullets, which by the way is a entitlement (Achievement!) in Dark Sector for rebounding bullets to kill a enemy, Another fun one is only using the glaive throughout a entire chapter, wow I enjoyed that… not.
The game can feel quite repetitive you feel like your controlling a boss throughout the game thats superior in every-way. However when you obtain the “Suit” I wont spoil anything, You think that you’ll become a god when you equip it, but don’t get carried away, you get to cover that ugly mug of a main character’s face and can take a few extra bullets, thats it! a real let down. and this is what your character needs to kill the “Nemesis” again stealing from RE games!
The online mode is a mega let down, the 5,000 PTS online is a equivalent of the 10,000 “Seriously…” achievement and hehe, again like GOW! is a target for some that will drive them to insanity,due to the online mode being so bad! The guns don’t seem to affect the “Infected” character whatsoever, your only hope is to gang up on the infected and punch him till he glows red to be “finished” with circle. The points are very stingy, I got bout 30/40 kills in the short time I played earlier and only got about 50 points
I give this game a fair 7 to a 8/10 it plays good, fun to play, no glitches of what I’ve seen, didn’t crash or freeze, slow down whatsoever seems a flawless game in terms of how it plays. It just doesn’t really feel like its a new game, I felt like I’ve played it before with it borrowing so many characteristics from GOW and RE4. If they had make it more of their own game than a fancy cover (Glaive) on top of a GOW graphics and RE4 gameplay it would’ve had me sold. the Ending was VERY bad, I would recommend RENTING this game, not buying! I am off to take my copy back in, I bid you fare well for now, catch you another time when I contribute to the site!
———————————————–Tips!———————————————
Ratchet & Clank; Tools Of Destruction;
When you want to level up your weapons the best thing to do is take them to the Arena at Mukow and use the challenges there to raise your weapon levels! There’s some stages that require using only ONE weapon and you almost get infinite ammo if you do them correctly. Making it very easy to level them up, A good place to level up the blade’s would have to be on Sargasso straight from when you arrive a dinosaur will appear and at this location you can just ‘Camp’ the guys that spawn (little critters!) by killing them and then diving in the marsh, then running back, with the jet boot’s you can get to it in about 3/4 seconds.. if that. I got to VX here.
