GTA V Confirmed?

That’s right, we were amazed to hear when Play3-live.com said that Take-Two’s 2009 line up brought a Grand Theft Auto sequal to our consoles!  This is the direct translation via Google from the Belgium website:

“Grand Theft Auto Sequel (Not Announced): Find Vice City, plagued by corruption and decadence. Your case is being undermined by the local police; your mission is to rebuild the bar and to reaffirm at the head of the city of one thousand colors.”

If this is true this is great news for PS3 owners but will it be PS3 exclusive like the rumour from 3 months ago?  We are waiting on the edge of our seats to find out!untitled.jpg

I doubt it will be a PS3 exclusive considering they have already made the move for it to be on both the 360 and PS3. Every developer would like as many sales as they can. You know what I mean?

Yes, I agree with you as it was just a rumour but there is evidence floating around that a big Rockstar title is going to be PS3 exclusive that is coming out next year!

I believe this fake. The next GTA will probably not be Vice City. Or we should all hope so. GTA IV was set in Liberty City since they wanted to try a city that they had failed at doing once before. The rest they had achieved. I suspect the next GTA will be based on Washington or maybe even Boston.

man i reckon it should be in another country like japan or england or russia or something but u catch my drift

i think this is true , there are numerous refrences to vice city in gta iv and other cites in the gta universe, but mostly vice city. it makes perfect sense that it would be in vice city because of the old gta 3 saga. As for an 09 release date, lets fucking hope so!!!!

In the first gta, you could play in liberty city, vice city, and san andreas. Why not do that again in GTA V?

@ Alex, Just to clarify, Xbox 360s discs are on dual layer DVDs not CDs. You can diss 360 as much as you want, it doesn’t bother me, but yeah, keep it factual (ie they sound like a fricking 747). Plus, this game, if it continues with the same system of naming that they have used before, will be a Grand Theft Auto: [insert city here], rather than the actual V release. GTA V will probably be released on the next batch of consoles (just my guess).

it should be vice city,i would love to see a modern vice city and the main character as tommy vercetti, he was the my favourite character, or even continue the story with niko bellic.
niko and roman both go to vice city.and continue, but i like tommy vercetti better

@Alex: 360 and PS3 had problems with GTA IV (360 had only 20% free space remaining and PS3 had many hardware difficulties that caused a 7 month delay in the game’s release, and the PS3 also had problems with the initial install where it froze). Even the Housers (major GTA people) said that the PC would be the most reliable option for future games.

Liberty City’s getting too old, San Andreas is just… i dont know, Vice City is too damn small.

I hope Rockstar chooses to set GTA V in their versions of London, Moscow, Tokyo or Madagascar.

  12. June 30, 2008 at 11:35 am

I hope it’s not set in America, I think that they have explored all the cities. LA, New York, Miami, Las Vegas, San Fran. I’d like to see something different and that’s where Rockstar really have to get inventive.

I just saw that Anky said it should be in Japan, that would be a good idea, base it on Tokyo or something, but i miss the country side from SA.

I THINK ITS STUPID BECAUSE THE FIRST EVER GTA WAS IN LONDON BUT NOW ALL OF A SUDDON ITS ALL IN AMERICA WHICH DOES SUCK DO YOU NOT THINK? I THINK THE NEW GTA SHOULD BE IN ENGLAND E.G. IN LONDON OR MANCHESTER OR SOMETHING BECAUSE ITS GETTING SO BORING WHEN ITS ALWAYS IN AMERICA ESPECIALLY WHEN ITS NOT JUST AMERICANS THAT PLAY THE GAME !!!

  17. October 25, 2008 at 2:32 pm

A GTA GAME SET IN SAN ANDREAS AGAIN! GTA IV WAS BORING BUT THE STORYLINES AND EXTRAS IN SA WERE THE BEST! I RECCOMEND THEM TO MAKE ANOTHER GAME SET IN SAN ANDREAS!

WHERE SAN ANDREAS SUCCEEDED WHERE GTA IV FAILED:
    - AEROPLANES! – LARGE VARIETY OF VEHICLES
    - INTERESTING STORYLINE!
    - INTERESTING CHARACTERS!
    - ETC…

i reckon it should be in Mexico City. Think about it. Lots of crime. Immigration stuff. Drugs. They could start it in Mexico and have you dealing through the border. I don’t think Europe would work. It wouldnt be so believable everyone speaking in english. Washington would be good cause of te Government. Even another hash at a more deatailed LA or Las Vegas would be good.

I think it would be brilliant in either:
    1. Hollywood (a bit like vice city)
    2. London
    3. San fransisco (a bit like san andreas)
But there are many more great places, and yeah i have heard a lot of rumours that GTA V will not be able to come onto the 360, but probably the xbox720? will be out by then, if your a PS3 fan then you will be happy to know that playstation home will be this fall! And if your thinking what the hell is playsation home? Go to youtube nd type in ‘Playstation home demonstration part 1′ its free for every PS3 user! (PSN: deltateam211) good luck GTA V!

I was on another site and they are sayin gthat GTA V will not be set anywhere in the United States. They are looking and Beijing, Paris, Venice, Cancun, and HAvana. Those are the finalist cities for GTA V. Also Microsoft will be working on trying to get the disc’s bigger for the GTA V. Those XBOX systems should be out sometime around next year before the GTA V is out. They will also be working on some things that have been problems for the PS3.
The sites where I got the information are listed below.

I don’t think you could set GTA in a country other than America (or maybe England), other countries aren’t diverse enough in their criminal organisations, nobody moves to Russia to start a criminal career so you’d have only Russian characters and the Japan is just too culturally different to be the setting for a GTA game, also you couldn’t do parodies of the government because no non-Japanese people would get the jokes. America is the country that is best suited for the games because they’re a big, diverse and rich while still having a large criminal demographic and high violent crime rate. Also, Vice City was character and setting wise the best 3rd Gen GTA game there was.

the next one should be a mafia driven game. in a whole new city. but with all the shit and more that you could do in san andreas. they need to bring back the airplanes, sidemissions and the funny quirky humour of san andreas. gta 4 could of been so much more.

I think all the GTA cities so far have been fantastically designed.. i think making a new better one wud be challenging.. they shud stick to the original cities for future games but just change things about the game eg like more things to spend money u make on there and stuff.. i love the way they gave u choices in gta iv ie. kill derrick or francis and any decisions u make affect the outcome of the story.. its fantastic this gta sdynasty is legendary its one of the best games i have ever played and i think we shud all recognise the work of rockstar they hav made alot of people very happy :)

I think the new GTA should be set in England would make a change from being in the US.
